Free Visio Stencils for 2024
02 January 2024Merry Christmas everyone! Well, at least Merry 7th or 8th day of Christmas. I know I haven't given any of you a present since 2012, and this is a re-gift of that (see Free Visio Stencils 2012 ) but they are re-gifted as .vssx now! And I've added in a few other stencils I've been hesitant to release until now. Take a look below, feel free to download and redistribute what you want.
Data-Drops_v2.vssx: Map out where you have ports or where you want ports over a floor plan. All of these ports allow you to enter pertinent information about the ports (what rooms they are in, what patch panels they connect to) so you can generate an Excel document based off of the information. They even color coordinate with the classification and auto-label themselves IAW I3A specifications.
The following stencils are best used with the Rack Diagram template in Visio (for scaling purposes). Each one is an unofficial stencil for the major form factors of Tactical network devices used through out the DoD.

Containers.zip: Decide how boxes (containers) and shelves should be placed in your Tricon before even lifting a box! These boxes are dynamically sized and can be linked to an excel spreadsheet with all the dimensions making load planning something that takes only a few minutes. An example is included!
Supply_Shelf.zip: Similar to the containers stencil, these are dynamically sized parts bins used to plan out how a supply shelf would be laid out. An example is also included.
NetworkFileCardV7.zip: This is just a re-release of Network File Cards (described here) and re-posted here for convenience.
DraftBoard_v2.vssx: This provides a background border with classification headers and a drawing information block that fills itself out with document properties to give your drawing a professional blueprint style look.
CabTray_v1.vssx: A batch of generic cable trays to map out cable paths. These also color coordinate with classification, they allow you to define tray width, height, base elevation, and product information for order estimation.
Classified_Devices_v2.vssx: I use these stencils to map out where all of our classified devices are. If they process data, they to color coordinate with the classification. Most of them are pretty generic, minus the IP phone.
These can be used for security paper work, just a series of popular door locks to include Kaba PowerLevers, Simplex, x09, even hand scanners and generic proximity readers.
These to scale antennas are what i use to figure out where exactly to place radio antennas on a tower before dragging all the antennas up to the tower. They can also be used on a document to keep track of what antennae relates to what radio net, however, those properties are not defined yet for these shapes. But, nothing is keeping you from defining them.
Used for mapping out your camp site. Its important to know the building/tent numbers, who occupies the building/tent and where all the lines are running underground to the structures. This stencil includes T-walls, Alaskan tents, frame tents, GP Mediums and Larges, K-Spans, Sprungs, and a couple other features usually found on forward operating bases (FOBs).
Did you notice the icon for a site layout on Visio has houses? Well, Visio doesn't include those stencils for the houses. I spent a pretty long time searching for roof-top stencils for a project I was doing, never found any and had to make my own.

A modest collection of different types of desks and furniture, some custom made, some not.
Wood_Boards_v2.zip: I haven't figured out how to use SketchUp or AutoCAD yet, so for most of my more complicated wood projects, I use these stencils to plan the projects I make (furniture and such). This helps with determining how much wood to buy, cuts that need to be made and how it will all be assembled. The stencils still need a bit of development, but I think they are good enough to publish. An example diagram is also included!
